Piñon Hills, California is a census-designated place in San Bernardino County near the Los Angeles County line. It sits along Pearblossom Highway, 28 miles east of Palmdale and 15 miles west of the Cajon Pass, within 25 miles of Hesperia and Victorville. The town is part of a tri-community with Phelan and Wrightwood, at an elevation of 4,173 feet, and had a population of 7,258 in 2020.
The community has one elementary school, Piñon Hills Elementary, while middle and high school students attend schools in Phelan. The Snowline Joint Unified School District also offers alternative education programs from kindergarten through high school.
