Muscoy is a census designated place in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 10,719 in 2020, a small increase from 2010. It shares the ZIP code 92407 with nearby areas like Verdemont, Devore Heights, Rosena Ranch, and Arrowhead Farms. Muscoy has a semi rural feel with large lots where people can raise horses, livestock, plants, and fruit trees. Many properties are part of the county Additional Agriculture overlay, which sets rules for the types and number of animals allowed. A unique part of Muscoy life is that cars and horses often share the same roads.
Muscoy began in the mid 1890s as a small farming community. It was planned with one to ten acre parcels for vineyards, orchards, and crops. After World War Two, the population grew and the area slowly shifted from farm land to more suburban homes. In the 1950s and 1960s, Muscoy became a common stop for travelers, which brought more shops and new residents. In 1989, a gasoline pipeline explosion sadly caused two deaths.
