The 2020 census reported a population of 766, down 25.1% from 1,023 in 2010. The area of Mesa Verde is 4.3 square miles, all land, with a population density of 178.1 people per square mile.
The racial makeup is diverse, with 35.9% White, 3.3% African American, 3.0% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 39.2% from other races, and 17.9% from two or more races.
