Lucerne Valley is a census-designated place and valley in the southern Mojave Desert, located in western San Bernardino County, California. The valley is surrounded by the Granite Mountains, Ord Mountains, and San Bernardino Mountains. It lies east of Victor Valley, about 19 miles east of Apple Valley and 20 miles north of Big Bear Lake, with other nearby communities including Yucca Valley and Barstow.
The area is served by State Routes 247 and 18, connected by Old Woman Springs and Barstow Roads, though the highways do not directly intersect. Lucerne Valley is also designated as County Service Area 29, which covers a larger region than the town limits. In 2013, Lucerne Valley and Johnson Valley were combined under the same Municipal Advisory Council, but CSA 29 boundaries remained the same. The CDP covers 105.6 square miles, all land.
