Lake Arrowhead is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in the San Bernardino Mountains of San Bernardino County, California. It surrounds the Lake Arrowhead Reservoir and is located 13 miles northeast of San Bernardino city. The population was estimated at 12,401 in 2020. Originally called Little Bear Lake, it was renamed Arrowhead Lake around 1920 when the Arrowhead Lake Company purchased the area.
Tourism is the main driver of the local economy, attracting over four million visitors annually and supporting hundreds of jobs. The area offers more than 1,600 guest accommodations, including vacation rentals, the Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa, and the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge. Lake Arrowhead Village serves as the commercial hub, with shops, restaurants, banks, a post office, and event spaces. The village hosts seasonal events like concerts, Oktoberfest, car shows, and the Antique Wooden Boat Show. Major employers include UCLA Conference Center, Mountains Community Hospital, and the Rim of the World Unified School District.
