Hidden Hills is a small, gated city and community in the Santa Monica Mountains region of Los Angeles County, California, located next to Los Angeles and Calabasas. As of 2020, its population was 1,725. The area was originally inhabited by the Chumash people and was developed in the 1950s by landscape architect A. E. Hanson. Hidden Hills became the 73rd city in Los Angeles County on October 19, 1961.
Designed as a rustic retreat, the community is now known as an upscale, exclusive enclave with large lots, limited streetlights, and a charming rural feel. Covering 1.688 square miles of land, Hidden Hills is near the Simi Hills and Santa Monica Mountains, just north of U.S. Route 101. It borders the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve, offering trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, and is near the historic Leonis Adobe landmark.
