Glen Avon is a neighborhood in Riverside County, California, and was once a census-designated place (CDP). It became part of the city of Jurupa Valley on July 1, 2011. The population grew from 14,853 in 2000 to 20,199 in 2010.
The area covers about 8.1 square miles, with nearly all of it being land and only a small portion water. Glen Avon was first established in 1909 as part of West Riverside by the Riverside Development Company. That same year, residents decided the community needed its own name. Through a lottery, the name “Glen Avon” was chosen submitted by a Welshman who recalled his boyhood home near the Avon River between two glens.
