Ladera Heights is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Los Angeles County, California, with a population of 6,634 as of the 2020 census. It is bordered by Culver City, Baldwin Hills, View Park–Windsor Hills, Westchester, and Inglewood. With an average household income of $132,824, it is one of the wealthiest majority-Black communities in the United States.
The community began in the late 1940s with the development of “Old Ladera,” followed by “New Ladera” in the 1960s, featuring custom homes by prominent architects like Valentine and Robert Earl. Ladera Heights has historically attracted professional athletes and celebrities, including Frank Robinson, Lisa Leslie, Vanessa Williams, Tyler, The Creator, and Byron Scott, and is known as a residential area for affluent African Americans.
