Sun Village is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Los Angeles County, California, located in the eastern Antelope Valley at an elevation of 2,723 feet. The community center is around Palmdale Boulevard and 87th Street East. As of the 2020 census, Sun Village had a population of 12,345, up from 11,565 in 2010.
The community has received federal, state, and county grants and has been working to reestablish the Sun Village name, which had declined in use since the 1980s. In 2007, Sun Village and Littlerock formed a Community Standard District approved by the county, and in 2014, Palmdale removed its sphere of influence from Sun Village. The community has its own chamber of commerce, town council, and participates in local pageants and parades.Historically, the area was known as Western Mojave Desert by Native Americans. In the 1930s, Melvin Ray Grubbs established the first Black community in the Antelope Valley by purchasing 1,000 acres east of Palmdale. The first Baptist church opened in 1950, and Jackie Robinson Park opened in 1965.
