Nuevo, California, is a small rural community in Riverside County, located east of Lake Perris and the city of Perris. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 6,733, up from 6,447 in 2010. The area covers about 6.8 square miles, all land, with a mix of rolling hills, rocky terrain, and low valleys. The San Jacinto River runs along its northern edge, though it is usually dry.
Natural vegetation in Nuevo mostly consists of Coastal Sage Scrub, but much of it has been replaced by residential and agricultural land. The population is diverse, with 39.1% White and 65% identifying as Hispanic or Latino. Most residents live in households, and the community has a population density of about 994 people per square mile.
